At Dons Local Action, we rely entirely on the generosity of people like you to keep our essential services running. We’re incredibly lean, with just three full-time staff supporting over 1,000 volunteers, but it takes approximately £400,000 per year to power our charity. From salaries to insurance, DBS checks to marketing, merchandise, training, fuel, our furniture hub, and so much more—every penny counts. Whether you choose to donate, fundraise, or support us in other ways, your contribution makes an enormous difference. We’d be immensely grateful for your support.

Donate a Laptop
Help us reduce inequalities and fight digital poverty across Merton, Wandsworth and Kingston. We have already delivered over 2,000 devices thanks to many generous donations. However, demand is still high and our work is not done!
An estimated 700,000 young people do not have access to the internet on a computer at home in the UK. This is a real concern as children with access to technology at home tend to do better in school exams and gain valuable skills.
Even more worryingly, as teachers and parents navigate a safe return to school, local and nationwide lockdowns, as well as individual household isolation are likely to continue to disrupt the education of many and our aim is not to leave any child behind.
How Can You Help Us?
Do you have a laptop less than 8 years old that you’d like to put to good use?
Our IT specialists will reset your laptop and ensure hard disk data is unrecoverable.
Our Amazon wishlist features essential items needed to get kids online suited for a range of budgets, from a computer mouse to a brand new laptop.
If you are a business and would like to help, we would love to hear from you.
Please reach out to discuss how you can get involved.
We are unable to accept laptop donations at our stalls outside supermarkets. Please click the “donate a laptop” button and use the contact form to express your interest in donating and we will be in touch within 2 days.
The Process after Donating a Laptop
Step 1
We collect your laptop.
Step 2
Our IT specialists securely erase your hard disk data. The data is unrecoverable using industry standards such as DoD Short and Sata Secure Erase. The device is refurbished and we install Chrome OS.
Step 3
One of our drivers delivers directly to a local school. The school then passes it on to a child who needs the device.

”Back in November I referred a family (to you), I visited this woman today. She was so full of praise for all the lovely food and supplies. She was saying what fabulous quality everything was and it had made such a difference to them. She says she has been preparing vegetables so she doesn’t waste anything. She is still struggling with money issues, but it was so lovely to see her smiling and beginning to put weight on.”
