Talk on Poverty and Work

We are happy to visit schools and deliver engaging talks to students of all ages. Our presentations provide insight into poverty in the local area and explain how our foodbank helps those in need. It’s a great way to inspire empathy and action among students.

Tours of our Hub

We welcome school groups to visit our foodbank hub for a behind-the-scenes look at how we operate. During the tour, students can see firsthand how donations are sorted, packed, and distributed, gaining a better understanding of the impact their contributions make.

Stalls and Events

Schools can invite us to set up information stalls at fairs, parent evenings, or other school events. It’s a fantastic opportunity to spread the word about our work and engage the wider school community in supporting our cause.

Foodbank Fridays

One popular initiative among our partner schools is “Foodbank Fridays,” where students and staff are encouraged to bring in non-perishable food donations once a week. This regular giving can make a significant difference in keeping our shelves stocked and helping families in need.

Why Partner with DLAG?

By partnering with DLAG, your school plays a crucial role in tackling poverty across South West London. Whether through food drives, volunteering, fundraising, or simply spreading awareness, you are part of a powerful network making a real difference. We also support schools by providing essential items to families in need – food, furniture, technology, instruments, uniforms, sports kits, and more. If your school community needs assistance, we’re here to help.

We have prepared a useful top 10 guide below, to help schools understand exactly how we can collaborate.

10 Ways Your School and DLAG Can Support Our Community Together

  1. Foodbank Fridays
Rising demand for food support makes your help essential. Schools publicise and gather requested food items; we handle collection and distribution.
  2. Volunteering Opportunities
We welcome young volunteers aged 14-17 (with appropriate supervision) and Duke of Edinburgh participants. Parents, staff, and friends are also encouraged to volunteer, ensuring a positive and impactful experience. We work with other age groups too on a case by case basis and work with you to organise brilliant days.
  3. Corporate Partnerships
Many parents work in businesses that can help—whether through staff volunteer days, fundraising events, or corporate sponsorship. We’re happy to discuss collaboration opportunities.
  4. Furniture Donations
Spare furniture from parents or schools can be delivered to struggling families. We handle collections, making it easy for you to contribute.
  5. Keep Kids Connected
Donate unused laptops and devices to be refurbished for pupils experiencing digital poverty. We also supply devices to schools when available.
  6. Talks on Poverty
We regularly visit schools to discuss poverty and our work. These sessions are engaging, educational, and can enrich your students’ understanding of their community.
  7. Fundraising Initiatives
Whether through our major events or your own initiatives—cake bakes, sporting challenges, sponsored activities—every effort helps us make a difference. Schools can even nominate DLAG as their “Charity of the Year.”
  8. Referring Families in Need
Schools are crucial in identifying families in need. We welcome referrals and are always ready to help.
  9. Tours and Visits
Bring your students to tour our food hub or the AFC Wimbledon Stadium at Plough Lane. It’s an inspiring, eye-opening experience that highlights the impact of their support.
  10. Spreading Awareness
Promote DLAG’s messages and opportunities through your notice boards, newsletters, social media, or fairs. Displaying our “Proud Partner” sticker shows your commitment to the community.

Big Sleep Out 5 – Get Involved!

We’re inviting all our partner schools to join us for Big Sleep Out 5 at the AFC Wimbledon Stadium, Plough Lane on 8th November 2025. To make this event a success, we encourage schools to send at least a couple of teachers and parents to participate. It’s an unforgettable experience at a fantastic venue, all while raising vital funds to combat poverty.
