Our Team

Our full-time beating heart, the Operations Team, consists of the Head of Operations and Co-founder, Deputy Head of Operations, and Operations Administrator. They work tirelessly with our immense volunteer team to ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly, maximising our impact across the boroughs. Their dedication and coordination are crucial to the success and growth of Dons Local Action Group.

Our Team

Our organisation is run almost entirely by dedicated volunteers. Every individual’s contribution is important and we wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you to all of the teams behind Keep Kids Connected, furniture, box packers, store leaders, stall workers, drivers, helpline call handlers, onboarding, marketing, PR, social media, and everyone else who helps keep us going.

Operational Team

Craig Wellstead

Co-Founder

Employee

About

Craig is here to make sure the food, furniture and everything else we collect gets distributed to those who need it most, and that we get enough food coming in to go out.  He is not the boss, He is a part of a team, but he is happy to take the flak.

The people we support have all been referred to us and are among the most vulnerable in our community.  We’d love to help everyone indefinitely, but we just haven’t got the resources to do that – we can only provide food for a maximum of 8 weeks.  Craig speaks to the individuals to optimise the package of support, to best suit their needs.

I love doing what I do.  And I love our volunteers – they are as diverse and inclusive a bunch as you’ll meet anywhere.  But they met here.  In DLAG.  And once you become part of our family, you’ll never want to leave.

Xavier Wiggins

Co-Founder

Volunteer

About

After a career in property, media, and marketing, I sent the text that sparked the birth of DLAG. Previously, I was Co-Chair of the Dons Trust and helped create the bond enabling AFC Wimbledon’s return to Plough Lane. My not-so-glittering TV career included Soccer AM, and a show on Men & Motors with Vinnie Jones in his local pub.

Proud Co-founder and Trustee of DLAG, which I consider a lifetime achievement, I received a British Empire Medal in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours List, an accolade I accepted on behalf of our inspirational volunteers.  I was also lucky enough to attend the Coronation. My journey with DLAG is driven by a commitment to community impact and the belief that together, we can make a significant difference.

I’m a passionate Wimbledon fan.  Thank goodness Grimsby Town moved our away game, or I may have missed the coronation.”

Tim Cobbett

Secretary:

Volunteer

About

Tim has followed the Dons since going to the old Plough Lane as a kid through to getting to see our recent return to Merton. Tim works for a Trade Union, having held previous roles in Student Unions and Higher Education, and is a former Local Councillor. Tim had been really impressed seeing DLAG volunteers out and about in the community and was keen to do something to help with DLAG’s work.

Tim supports the Trustees by preparing agendas, minutes and undertaking related admin.

Aside from watching live sport and attending meetings, I enjoy seeing comedy/theatre and travelling to visit friends, and I also volunteer for a couple of other charities. Favourite AFC Moment was staying up in League 2 on the final day against Fleetwood at Kingsmeadow.
