DLAG runs on the power of its incredible volunteer network. We asked what DLAG and its community support means to them.

John, Hub volunteer:
“You are often asked at the stall ‘is this necessary?’ and it is. I have made many friends and we have a laugh. DLAG knows it’s the volunteers and donations that make it tick and make getting involved very easy and simple.”

Caroline, Trustee:
“The figures that come out are startling about how much poverty there is. DLAG’s response time is amazing. As Trustees, we hear lovely stories about support being delivered within a few hours of referrals.”

Marion, stall volunteer:
“The structure and flexibility of working with DLAG is what keeps me involved. Being able to book onto shifts at a time that suits me is really helpful. If there are times that I’m not able to maintain a regular commitment, then it is easy to get back involved through the ‘My Impact App’. There are also lots of opportunities to get involved in other fundraising events!”

Mark, volunteer driver:
“I love all the social events which our amazing management team arranges! It’s a great way to get all the DLAG family together, meet up to exchange stories, and get to know each other better – it really shows the scale of the charity and how big the DLAG community is.”

Debbie, stall and events volunteer:
“My advice to anyone thinking about volunteering would be to come along to any of DLAG’s many social gatherings, and get to know others that volunteer across the charity!”

Sinead, newsletter and events volunteer:
“Volunteering with DLAG has become such an important part of my life. It’s given me connection, community, new experiences, a sense of purpose and friendship. The power of volunteering should not be underestimated. I encourage everyone to give it a go!”

Why not consider making a difference in your community this new year by getting involved as a DLAG volunteer? You can find details of the volunteering opportunities available on the DLAG website.

January is a challenging month for many, so if you are an existing volunteer and can spare an extra hour or two, please sign up for a store shift via MyImpact.
